Tied In Knots - The Characters
Hi, I’m the narrative voice in your head. Yes, I know it sounds a lot like your own voice, but just work with me here. I want to introduce you to the characters of Tied in Knots. Now, follow me as we make our way through the mansion. See that light fixture? It was imported from Finland. V-E-R-Y expensive. Ok, just right through this door here, and…
…Meet Peter (Greg Utt Panichkul). He’s a starving artist type and doesn’t quite know which direction his life is going, until he sets out to help his best friend, Saravan. In his quest to help out a pal, he gets more than he bargained for.
This is Kate (Sara Malakul Lane). Kate is just looking for love. Honest love. She thinks she may have found it in Saravan. Saravan, on the other hand, has now told so many whopping lies, George Bush himself would be envious.
Say “Happy Birthday” to Saravan (Jamison Yang). Saravan is about to turn 44? 45? 47? Please put a check mark beside the lie you want to believe. Saravan wants to take his life to a “higher plain of existence”, even if he has to lie and steal his way to get there. Which he does.
Here’s Jay (Gary Stretch). Jay is a real estate agent for the elite. He’s met a lot of eccentric millionaires in his time, but nothing can prepare him for Saravan and his band of merry misfits. By the time his business with Saravan is over, he’ll feel as if he’s been tied up and flogged. In fact, he is tied up and flogged.
Meet Tida (Swanthong). Tida is Kate’s mother. She shows up for Kate’s and Saravan’s first meeting. Saravan is looking forward to this like a trip to the dentist. However, Tida has two BIG surprises for Saravan. Ha ha, get it…two…BIG…surprises! What, do I have to draw you a picture? Okay, she’s got a huge set of knockers.
This is Bob (Jibby Saetang). Bob drives a limo for employment. Bob is either a). A lowdown, deviant, voyeuristic, pervert, or b). A perverted, voyeuristic, deviant, lowlife?
You be the judge. Other than that, he’s a wonderful human being. He always has some great limo stories too!
Say hi to Sonxai (Steve Arnold). Just say hi, and then move on as quickly as you can. You see, Sonxai is an insurance salesman, the type that can bore you to the point where your mind could actually atrophy on you. Still…he can get you a good deal on a life insurance policy. Just something to think about.
Now meet Snap (Aphisak (Tai) Somphongs). Snap is in therapy. His therapist prescribes drugs (yes, FDA approved) to help keep Snap’s Choo Choo for going round the bend. Snap has a nasty habit of knocking out people with sex toys. Yeah, it’s a complicated situation. We’ll get into that another time.
Anyway, that’s the gang. Got to see the movie though to fill in the empty places.

Gary Stretch (Jay) Despite winning the British light-middleweight championship, his big moment undoubtedly came in 1991 when he challenged Chris Eubank for the WBO world middleweight championship in London. "Beauty V The Best" attracted the big celebrity crowd, and it was a major sporting event. His hard work finally paid off when he was cast as psychotic gangster Sonny in Shane Meadows' highly acclaimed cult thriller "Dead Man's Shoes". Stretch received both a BIFA and BAFTA nomination. He went on to co-star opposite Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolle and Sir Anthony Hopkins in the Oliver Stone blockbuster "Alexander". What follows is a short list of his many credits.
